A guide to serums – 5 serums for 5 skin types.
Serums are incredibly popular in skin care. Serums are usually formulated with a higher concentration of active ingredients, so a little goes a long way. The texture is usually lighter than a moisturizer. Generally, you use serums after you cleanser your skin and before moisturizing or layering other products. Day or night application depends on the serum, so look into how to use each one. If you’re considering using a serum in your skincare routine, here’s a quick guide:
5 Serums for 5 Skin Types
For acne: Blemish Clearing Serum. (Juice beauty). A beta hydroxy mixed with anti-inflammatories. See more here.
For sun damage: CE Ferrulic Serum (SkinCeuticals). Contains 3 antioxidants. Many of our patients love it, and one left a great review on the shop about it here.
For aging prevention: Serum 20 AOX+ (SkinCeuticals). 20% high quality vitamin C. Very high quality in that it uses L-ascorbic acid which penetrates cells well and has been proven to protect cells from UV damage to skin cell DNA, promote more even pigment, and help with fine lines. My full review here.
For aging repair: TNS Recovery Complex (SkinMedica). Growth factors help increase sluggish cell turnover rates. More on this here.
For dry skin: Hydrating B5 Gel (SkinCeuticals). Use this under your moisturizer and sunscreen for more hydration. See my full review here.
