Improving the appearance of crepeiness on the arms!

Today’s focus is “skin on the arms” and how to lessen the appearance crepeiness. No lying though. Extra fat under the arms will hang! A tricep muscle (the muscle on the back of the arm) that is toneless and too small will hang! First thing we gotta do is tone the muscles in our arms. This is easy and cheap, and you don’t even need to belong to a gym. Google/YouTube this topic and then order some inexpensive 1-5 lb weights.  Start easy so you don’t injure yourself and do it 3 times a week forever. It takes 5 minutes – really!

Don’t forget you can use a low strength retinol, sunscreen and other anti-aging topicals on the arms. Keep your arms covered and/or sunscreened in the sun!

Here’s what can help from the Dermatology world:

1. Fat under the upper arm, at the front of the armpit, and in the back (“bra fat”). Coolsculpting is the clear winner here with it’s evolution of better adapters for these areas. Schedule a consult first and don’t succumb to ANY same day pressure to buy.  Educate yourself first and shop around for costs, if you can. You will get some skin tightening as the fat melts away permanently.
2. Sun damage –  brown and white blotchiness. In my opinion, Fraxel Dual is the clear winner here. IPLs are too uneven on the arms, and Fraxel will also improve crepey skin some. Clear & Brilliant (made by the same company as Fraxel) is a BABY Fraxel. It’s not strong enough to get good results on the arms, unless you want to do twice as many treatments.  Expect to needs 2-5 Fraxels depending on how much sun damage you have.
3. Sun damage – crepeiness and lax skin. This is a tougher problem. The Fraxel Dual 1550 nm wavelength will give some results.  A CO2 or erbium laser on the arms will also. Experts only please. We have not been impressed with the Thermage body tip on the arms. Exilis seems to work a bit better for tightening, but expect minimal results. Ultherapy is too painful for arms.
