Debunking 5 Injectable Myths
We all want to be safe while looking our best, so I love this question. In general, it’s good to be able to ask your doctor or provider these questions. But… I totally understand that it’s not always easy to get through, especially in a timely manner. Here are some general filler myths that need to either die or be taken with a grain of salt.
5 Injectable Myths that Need Debunking
- Your Botox/Dysport is going to migrate and make you look like a toad. Yes… you really don’t want to stand on your head or lay face down in a massage cradle for 6–12 hours after injection. But unless there was a massive amount put in, most normal activities are just fine.
- Alcohol after fillers is dangerous. Binging with alcohol is never a good idea, so don’t binge within 72 hours. Most normal drinking like a wine and cheese party is not a problem. At worst, it makes your blood slightly more likely to leak from capillaries and then bruise as the filler expands just a bit over the first 48–72 hours.
- Things I might be doing could make the filler move. Okay… maybe don’t take sleeping pills, drink too much etc. and then crash out somewhere with your face smashed into a pillow not moving for 12 hours. Once the filler is placed correctly, it’s actually quite unlikely to migrate or take a trip somewhere else. 🙂
- More is better. We all love the effects of these when they are done well. But that doesn’t mean doubling down is going to win the poker hand. This is where you really need to trust that your doctor and other providers will keep your interests first in mind. You want a provider who will tell you something is not a good idea. They need to put you first and not their finances. When a provider says “no”, it’s either because they think it will look awful, or because it’s outside their skill set. Either way, it’s good to listen. 🙂
- I can make your lips look like the latest movie star. Almost everyone’s lips can look a little fuller. Texture changes and a small improvement in shape are doable. But your lips are never going to look like Angelina’s, Gigi’s, or the latest supermodels. We are constrained some by our anatomy, and much more beautiful going with a natural look.
Hope this helps,
